What’s one thing Kona has taught you?
If there is one thing that I've learned from Kona it's patience. When I first got her from a friend, she was a handful. She was already five years old and had spent the first 3 years of her life in different shelters. She was housebroken but didn't know any basic commands, had no recall, didn't know how to walk on a leash or how to interact with other dogs. It took me 9 months and a lot of patience to earn her trust and train her. After three years together, she's easily one of the most obedient dogs and is a hundred percent reliable both on and off-leash with all her commands.
What’s Kona’s favorite activity?
Kona loves being outside. Whether it's walking around our neighborhood, exploring along the river, hiking the mountain at our local state park, or just going to the dog park she loves going outside and exploring all the scents and sights.
If Kona had a career, what would they be?
Kona would probably be a lifeguard. She adores the water and has very strong protection instincts, so I think that being a lifeguard would be her dream job.
